Early Literacy Talking

Talking represents one of the easiest and best ways to get your child to learn new words. Children trust their parents the most and every word they hear expands their vocabulary. Children understand the spoken words before they can speak them. Therefore, conversation is really important for their development. Here are some simple ways to make talking effective:

  • Use good language when talking to your child. It is in fact beneficial to speak both languages if you speak two languages at home, but ensure to use only one during a conversation.
  • Talk about different events, stories and about their environment. Share daily activities with your child.
  • Talk about the photos and pictures found in books. Wordless picture books and picture books with clear, vivid illustrations are suitable for this. Encourage your child to talk about the pictures too if he can.
