Qatar National Library (QNL) and the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the recent 84th World Library and Information Congress in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Commenting on the agreement, Dr. Sohair Wastawy, Executive Director of Qatar National Library, said: “We are delighted to have entered into this partnership with the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library, particularly during the Qatar-Russia Year of Culture. We very much look forward to exploring the areas in which we can cooperate”.

The MoU was signed by Wastawy and Valentin Sidorin, Acting Director-General of the Presidential Library.

According to the Acting General Director Valentin Sidorin, "We have no doubt that our cooperation with Qatar National Library will result in multiple projects and will lead our nations to better understanding each other. We are also looking forward to our collaboration in the next four years as the FIFA World Cup 2022 will move from Russia to Qatar, and this will not only be a celebration of sport, but will also contribute to the strengthening of friendly relations between countries".

The research materials on geography and history of Arabia, as well as official diplomatic documents reflecting the relationship between Russia, Qatar and the League of Arab States take a special place in the Presidential Library's holdings. These documents are presented in the collection "Russia - Qatar: from the history of relations".
