Qatar National Library’s Events in June

Qatar National Library’s beautiful Rem Koolhaas-designed building may still be closed to the public, but we continue to increase our online offerings at Qatar National Library and we’ll be running a series of events for people of all ages throughout June. All of these courses will take place through the Microsoft Teams conferencing application.

This month, we’re once again collaborating with Studio 5/6 to help children discover a wealth of new digital skills from the comfort of their own homes.

Makers at Home will allow students to discover a variety of new digital skills, including gaming, digital electronics, 3D modelling, coding and app development, and virtual reality.

Our free online camp will be help create the digital developers of the future - please visit our website for details of dates and how to enroll.

On June 8, heritage lovers can attend an online training workshop Preservation and Conservation of Manuscripts. Experts from the Manuscript Restoration Center at Al-Abbas Holy Shrine Library in Iraq will guide you through the process of restoring and preserving documents of historical value across the Gulf region.

Also on 8 June, we’ll be doing a deep-dive into the art of storytelling for children with learning difficulties. This online session for parents and caregivers of children with learning difficulties will introduce effective storytelling techniques to inspire their children’s imaginations.

On the same day, we’re running a course looking at apps for language therapy for children. Mental Imagery Therapy for Autism (MITA) is a unique, early-intervention application for children with language delay and autism. MITA trains mental integration and language, starting with simple vocabulary, and progressing towards higher forms of language, such as adjectives, verbs, pronouns, and syntax.

We can help you become a master of public speaking with our lecture on 15 June. Attendees will learn new techniques to speak with confidence in front of an audience. They will also learn the benefits of writing and practicing, and how to find a balance between their voice and body language.

Would you like to master the art of storytelling to young children? Learn everything you need to know about the importance of reading for the little ones on 17 June. We’ll also explain the science behind the importance of reading to the development of your child's brain and the concept of reading and early literacy.
