Music lovers were treated to Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s Album for the Young (or Children’s Album) at another edition of the monthly Philharmonic at the Library series on 5 December.
Attendees enjoyed an especially exceptional performance of the album’s 24 short pieces, which were originally composed for the piano in 1878 and dedicated to Tchaikovsky's favorite nephew. At the Library, they were performed using Gennady Krutikov’s string quintet arrangement.
Speaking after the concert, Ali Rashid, one of the attendees, said: “It is my first time attending the concert with my friends and we really enjoyed the show. This is what makes the Library very special among other places in Qatar to visit with family and friends, as it offers programs for everyone.”
Lina Abubaker, who also attended, noted: “I am new to Qatar and came to the Library for the first time to attend this concert. It made my evening even more special and I will continue to keep an eye on the Library’s website to learn about future events and visit again.”
