Join this casual gathering of knitters and crocheters every Thursday from 9:00 – 11:00 am to work on projects and share skills in a friendly atmosphere. Participants are welcome to bring their own supplies and projects or to borrow the Library’s needles and yarn. All skill levels are welcome, including beginners who are interested in learning. As part of International Open Access Week, we will screen the film Paywall: The Business of Scholarship. This documentary focuses on the need for open access to research and science, questions the rationale behind the $25.2 billion a year that flows into for-profit academic publishers, examines the 35-40% profit margin associated with the top academic publisher Elsevier, and looks at how that profit margin is often greater than some of the most profitable tech companies.

We will introduce the wide range of collections and types of information sources available to you as a member of the Library. You’ll learn how to use the Library catalog through hands-on activities, and we’ll also help you familiarize yourself with various search tools.

QNL's wide range of collections will be introduced to the participants and a hands-on activity on how to use the catalog will also be conducted and to help users familiarize themselves on how to do their own searching efficiently and what types of information sources are found in the library.

The Qatari Authors Forum gathers a group of influential Qatari authors to share their experiences in a discussion moderated by creative writer Amal Abdulmalik.

The Open Access (OA) Week Workshop will give participants a short introduction to OA publishing and cover some of the strategies that can help increase the visibility of a nation’s scientific output, both locally and globally.
