Join this casual gathering of knitters and crocheters every Thursday from 9:00 – 11:00 am to work on projects and share skills in a friendly atmosphere. Participants are welcome to bring their own supplies and projects or to borrow the Library’s needles and yarn. All skill levels are welcome, including beginners who are interested in learning. As part of International Open Access Week, we will screen the film Paywall: The Business of Scholarship. This documentary focuses on the need for open access to research and science, questions the rationale behind the $25.2 billion a year that flows into for-profit academic publishers, examines the 35-40% profit margin associated with the top academic publisher Elsevier, and looks at how that profit margin is often greater than some of the most profitable tech companies.

We will introduce the wide range of collections and types of information sources available to you as a member of the Library. You’ll learn how to use the Library catalog through hands-on activities, and we’ll also help you familiarize yourself with various search tools.
