Join this casual gathering of knitters and crocheters to work on projects and share skills in a friendly atmosphere. Participants are welcome to bring their own supplies and projects or to borrow QNL needles and yarn. All skill levels welcome including beginners who are interested in learning. Qatar National Library (QNL) will host the Gardens of Al-Andalus exhibition from 10 June to 24 September 2018 under the patronage of H.E. Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al-Thani, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, QNL.

The Library is pleased to host a live cooking show highlighting Al-Andalusi recipes and celebrating this fantastic culinary legacy that influences Spanish cuisine even today. The cooking show will be hosted by Juan Ramón Sobero, head chef at the La Liga Lounge at the Sheraton Grand Doha, and Inés Eléxpuru, author of Cooking in Al-Andalus and Al-Andalus: Culinary Magic and Seduction.

Comedian Nawaal Akram will discuss living with muscular dystrophy in an engaging, entertaining and educational lecture. Born in Doha, Akram was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy at age six. She is an internationally known advocate for disability rights and founded Muscular Dystrophy Qatar to raise awareness of the condition in the country. She was featured on the BBC’s 100 Women program in 2017, reflecting her inspirational and influential efforts.

We are pleased to invite you to a lecture by Inés Eléxpuru, author of Cooking in Al-Andalus and Al-Andalus: Culinary Magic and Seduction. In this lecture, Inés will discuss the rich culinary heritage of Andalusia, which still influences Spanish cuisine today.
