Eric Therrien holds a master’s degree in Library and Information Science and a bachelor’s degree in French Studies from Université de Montréal. Since 2004, he has held several positions at the Institut canadien de Québec, the cultural organization responsible for managing Québec City’s public library network.
He served as Director of Collections from 2012 and, since 2017, has been Director of the Gabrielle-Roy and Downtown Libraries, Collections, and Digital Strategy. In this role, he led one of Québec’s largest public library modernization projects, culminating in the reopening of the Gabrielle-Roy Library in 2024.
An active member of the library community, Therrien has also served as President of the Association of Quebec Public Libraries since 2025.
