Leslie Wier

Leslie WierLeslie Weir is the President of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) and a Canadian librarian and archivist. She has served as Librarian and Archivist of Canada since 2019, becoming the first woman to hold this position since the establishment of Library and Archives Canada in 2004.

Previously, she served as University Librarian at the University of Ottawa from 2003 to 2018, where she contributed to the development of academic library services and supported the establishment of the School of Information Studies. She also played a key role in advancing Canada’s digital research infrastructure and was among the founding contributors to Scholars Portal.

Throughout her career, she has held several leadership roles in the library community, including President of the Canadian Association of Research Libraries, Canadiana.org, and the Ontario Library Association. She holds a BA from Concordia University and an MLS from McGill University.
