TIAN Miao is a research librarian and Deputy Director of the China Memory Center at the National Library of China. He has extensive experience in the development of living-memory resources and non-paper-based documentary materials.
His research interests include safeguarding intangible cultural heritage, preserving the linguistic and cultural traditions of ethnic minority communities, and examining the mechanisms through which collective memory is formed.
He serves as Vice-President of the International Oral History Association and as an international facilitator for UNESCO’s 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
