The officiating Resident Lieut. Arnold Burrowes Kemball (April 1843-Dec.1843), said to the Bin Tarif to stay in Bahrain and look after the Qatar and Bahrain, because having strong personalities and support from large number of people in Qatar as well as in Bahrain. He visited al Bida in May 1843, and forced Salemin bin Nasir al Suwaidi (head of al Bida fort) of his people to leave al Bida fort and settled in Lingah, while Abu Ainain took possession of Wakra. He appointed in-charge of al Bida fort to the Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa, brother of Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa. At the same time he made the necessary arrangements to transfer his resident from Qais island to al Bida. On 11 June he returned from al Bida to Qais island. When the pearl seasons end in October 1843, Bin Tarif along with his entire team including his deputy chief bin Salamah came to al Bida, and settled to the South of the town. His position was further strengthened by the joined of some members of the Maadhid tribe and al Bu Kuwara chief Mohammed bin Saeed bu Kuwara. The settlement of all those tribes in al Bida under the dynamic leadership Bin Tarif, which enhance the importance of the al Bida. However, Shaikh Mohammed bin Thai remained in Fuwairate. Kemball welcome the change and hope that new Chief control all the irregularities at sea with outmost sincerity, which was impossible with the Suwaidi’s Chieftains. Bin Tarif maintaining law and order at sea as well as continued his cooperation and friendly relations with the new regime in Bahrain. Bin Tarif time to time visit Bahrain and offered his services to the to the cause of Shaikh Mohammad bin Khalifa against his rival Shaikh Abdullah.
