Spying on Whales

It’s easy to see why whales have captured the human imagination. Operating at the furthest edge of physiological extremes, their mysterious lives beneath the observable ocean surface can make whales seem otherworldly; yet, in their undeniable intelligence and social nature, we also recognize something of ourselves. To really understand whales, we must dig into their fascinating evolutionary history and search for insights about their place in past environments. With knowledge of past whale worlds, we can assess the current challenges that whales face and work to protect their place in the oceans of the future.

Learn to Organize Your Writing Using Scrivener

Scrivener is a powerful piece of writing software, but it can be daunting for beginners and difficult to master. This session will introduce the basics of organizing, writing and compiling your project. For more advanced users, there will be tips on how to maximize its potential. Writers of both fiction (e.g. poetry, short stories, and novels) and non-fiction (e.g. memoirs, academic papers and dissertations) are welcome. Weekly Knitting and Crochet Circle

Join this casual gathering of knitters and crocheters every Thursday from 9:00 – 11:00 AM to work on projects and share skills in a friendly atmosphere. Participants are welcome to bring their own supplies and projects or borrow the Library’s needles and yarn. All skill levels are welcome, including beginners who are interested in learning.
