Dr. Lale Javanshir is the Middle Eastern Studies Librarian at the Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library, University of Toronto. She holds a PhD in Turkish and Ottoman Studies and specializes in Islamic manuscripts and early print culture, with particular expertise in Turkish and Persian historiography, prose, and poetry.
Her doctoral dissertation resulted in a critical edition of The Paşanāme, a 17th-century Ottoman mes̠nevī, featuring the transcription and translation of 2,180 couplets. Dr. Javanshir is also the co-founder of Azerbaijani Civic Nation and Bayqush Publication and is currently preparing her first academic monograph.
