Lesego Makhafola holds a PhD in Information Technology and is a lecturer in the Department of Information Science at the University of Pretoria. She co-chairs and facilitates the CODATA-RDA School of Research Data Science South Africa and serves as Chair-Elect of ASIS&T’s Special Interest Group on Metrics. She is also a member of the Deep Learning Indaba Steering Committee, leads the IndabaX Central Steering Committee representing more than 40 African countries, and organises IndabaX South Africa.
Her research interests include multiliteracies, curriculum development, information and AI ethics, disruptive and emerging technologies, and research data management, with a particular focus on advancing digital competencies in academic library environments.
