Dr. Nicholas Middleton delivering the lecture

In this forum, Dr. Nicholas Middleton, School of Geography and the Environment, University of Oxford, explored the unique phenomena of dust storms and their origin, evolution and how they have shaped Qatar's landscape and environment.

Dust storms are among the most fascinating natural phenomena occurring in deserts. Dust storms in North Africa and the Arabian peninsula can have environmental impacts that can extend as far as the west coast of the United States. They also happen on other celestial bodies, such as comets, Mars and the Saturn moon Titan.
